Fiat has its own certified pre-owned program, which is independent of the CPO programs of FCA’s other brands: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. It is known as the Fiat Certified Pre-Driven Program (CPD). Any Fiat vehicle that is less than six years old is eligible for the program. Fiat doesn’t specify a maximum number of miles that would disqualify a car from certification. Based on this information, all Fiat models in our rankings would qualify.
Fiat leaves out important details regarding its certified pre-owned (pre-driven) program. The automaker does not provide online access to an inspection-point checklist. Fiat claims that vehicles are “100% tested” and receive “a demanding inspection and reconditioning process” using authentic Mopar parts. Fiat does include general qualification standards, including mechanical standards, maintenance standards, appearance standards, and detail standards, when considering a vehicle for certification.
Buyers will receive ownership materials, including documents of a clear title, service records, a CARFAX vehicle history report, and a one-year transferable CARFAX Buyback Guarantee agreement.
All Fiat CPO (CPD) vehicles come with a six-year/80,000-mile (whichever comes first) comprehensive limited warranty. The warranty covers most major powertrain and assembly components, which includes the engine, transmission, and driveline. However, Fiat charges a $150 deductible for covered repairs and replacements.
Fiat offers a few extended CPD service contracts. The Certified Added Care Plus warranty is a zero-deductible plan. Stepping up to the Certified Maximum Care Plus program offers additional protection on 250 to 5,000 components and is also upgradable. For specific warranty details and pricing, the automaker recommends checking with your local Fiat dealer.
Fiat’s certified pre-owned program includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The service will handle flat tires, battery jump assistance, gas delivery up to two gallons, lockout service, and towing.
You also get a rental car allowance if your Fiat is in service for repairs that are covered by the warranty. The program will reimburse you $35 per day, with a maximum of $175 per incident. Additionally, Fiat provides a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio.
How Does It Compare to Rivals?
Comparing Fiat’s CPO (CPD) program to competitors’ programs is difficult since the automaker doesn’t provide a detailed description of every aspect. Some automakers, like Chevrolet and Honda, offer zero-deductible repairs, whereas Fiat charges $150 per incident. Other automakers also include a list of inspection points when they go through their CPO vehicle; Fiat doesn’t. The three-month free trial of SiriusXM satellite radio is not unique, but it is uncommon. A rental car allowance is offered by many rivals, but automakers like Volkswagen, Chevrolet, and Mazda don’t include one.
